Four nationalities

Based on our favorite foods and from John's viewpoints, there are four nationalities at our home. Daddy is a Taiwanese as he loves eastern food. Mommy is a Japanese as she loves Japanese style food. He is an American as he loves western food. Joshua is an African as he eats everything.
陽陽說根據我們最喜愛的食物，我們家的人來自於四個國家。爸爸是台灣人，因為他喜歡東方的食物。媽咪是日本人，因為她喜歡日式食物。他自己是美國人，因為他喜歡吃西方的食物。弟弟是非洲人，因為他什麼都吃。

“教養”很好

外公外婆和舅舅舅媽假日來訪。隔天晚上，媽咪回家後，和陽陽聊了一下天。

媽咪: “陽陽，昨天外公說您教養很好，所以給你三個星星! “

陽陽很高興，但一臉狐疑的問: “媽咪，教養很好是什麼意思? “


媽咪花了一段時間解釋…..


陽陽: 喔.......! 我還以為是"叫陽”很好。 外公說我的名字叫陽陽很好，所以你要給我星星!

Ho 是老虎?

陽陽突然開始全程用台語講話了…(所以請用台語理解本篇文章)

陽陽: 媽媽, 我知道妳屬豬!
爸爸: 那爸爸呢?
陽陽: 你屬猴! 我是羊。

爸爸: 那你的朋友瑤搖呢? (註: 陽陽的隔壁班同學, 出生在11 月)
陽陽: 我知道! 她屬Ho?

爸爸心想: 奇怪! 瑤搖不是才早他一年出生嗎? 怎麼會屬虎?
爸爸訥悶的問: 為什麼?
陽陽: 對ㄚ! 她屬Ho, Horse ㄚ!

陽陽寫詩

陽陽今天心血來潮，用注音自己寫了三篇"課文"(我覺得應該是詩吧!)，還蠻好玩的。我將他的注音轉為文字...

摺小船，

小船水中飄。

兩張紙，

摺蘋果，

蘋果甜甜的。

Nurse is better

One day, we are talking about what career may be good for John.

We are talking about directions of math-relative  and literature-relative.  After a while,

Mom:  I think a doctor is better. He can help a lots of people.

Dad:  Indeed! However, we need consider John's interests and personality....

We keep  discussing advantage and disadvantage of being a doctor!  Suddenly,

John interrupted and said: Do you know becoming a doctor is not good?

Why?  The answers draw our attention.

John:  Do you know that nurse always collect money , not doctor!

跟上一條龍

 陽陽開始學中文了! 練習拼音時， 我們嘗試的問他是否了解他所念的字詞含義，他的回答總帶來歡笑!

爸爸: " 生活" 是什麼意思"?

陽陽: 就是把火升起來啊！

爸爸: " 檢核" 是什麼意思，你知道嗎?

陽陽: 把盒子撿升起來！

爸爸: "有始有終" 是什麼意思"?

陽陽: 就是當鐘聲響起來後，要趕快刷牙上廁所，把該做的事作完!

爸爸心想: 他是不是聽成"有屎有鐘" 了!

過幾天，學校開始教"登鸛雀樓"。

爸爸嘗試讓陽陽自己拼音完成這首詩!

愈窮千里目，ㄍㄥ  ㄕㄤˋ 一  ㄔㄥˊ  ㄌㄡˊ .....

才拼完沒多久, 陽陽迫不急待的問爸爸:

陽陽: 爸爸!  為什麼愈窮千里目需要跟上一條龍，是因為這樣比較快嗎!

It is not a Taiwan school

We just moved back and John is study in one of taiwan school. Since John studied in America school in the past 3 years, he hasn't spend too much time on learning Chinese. Therefore, I spend more time to communicate with him and try to enahnce his ability of reading mandrine.

After a playdate with yao-yao, I found yao-yao can read homework and some chinese book.
Dad: Your english is better and Yaoyao's chinese is better. do you know the reason.
John: Yes. I studied in American school and she studied in Taiwan school.
Dad: Since we are studing in taiwan school now... (I try to encourage him to learn more chinese ...)
John suddently interrupted me and said: It is not a Taiwan school.

I was surprised and asked: why?
John: If it is a taiwan school, How come we haven't speak taiwanese in school?

Amen 阿們！

昨天禱告完後，John問我：為什麼pray最後都要講Amen? God的名字又不是Amen

我告訴他Amen means ‘I agree’.

今天禱告完，最後，他說：Jesus, thank you that you listen to our prayer, I AGREE!

日全食

2009年7月22日上午，日全食出現在長江流域。一大早媽咪要出門前跟陽陽解釋了日全食的現象，但陽陽看起來不太感興趣，而且好像沒理解。

 

早上九點開始，天開始慢慢變黑，到了九點二十多分，可以看到整個城市一片漆黑。因為沒開路燈的關係，甚至比晚上還要黑。真的是很奇特的經歷！於是，媽咪打電話回家，想叫陽陽也一起感受一下這個特別的時刻。

 

Mom: John, do you see outside?

John: Ya, it’s dark.

Mom: Yes, do you remember mommy told you this morning regarding eclipse that the sun would be covered by the moon and the earth would be dark?

John: Yes, looks like the night!

Mom: Yes, it is excited, isn’t it?

John: Mmn, but, Mom, should I go to bed now? It’s dark and looks like the night.

Mom: …

 

難怪天文學家要我們觀察動物的反應，連小孩的反應都很直接呢！

Grow Up to Be a Father…

昨天跟John撘Taxi去球場的路上，我跟他說Grade one跟Kindergarten不太一樣，要學的東西會比較多，他輕輕的回答我說，他知道。過一會兒，他突然說：Grade one is different to kindergarten and kindergarten is different to pre-school.

 

我說：Yes, you are right.

 

John Said: But, mom, you know what? Alex G said he wishes he can be always in pre-school

 

我說：Really? Do you want to go to pre-school now?

 

John Said: No, I want to grow up.

 

我說：Great! So that you can learn more, right?

 

John Said: Yap, I want to grow up so that I can become a farther…

 

哇！好遠大的志願ㄚ！

It is just water in my eyes

那天John沒有約playdate，我叫他選擇家庭作業來做, 他選了數學, 我讓他先讀題目. 題目包含中文注音拼音。因為太久沒練習拼音了, John寫了一下，覺得太難，就告訴我說不想做。我略帶生氣的告訴他, 那不要做算了, 以後你不認識字, 你自己負責。我發現到John 的眼眶泛紅了

Daddy: ㄛ，這樣就要哭了！
John: No, I am not crying. It’s just water in my eyes…

轉的真快！

放天燈

今年元宵節前一天剛好是星期天，打羽球的朋友在網上買了一些天燈，準備在星期天晚上可以放。 Tim和我都沒放過天燈，更別說John了。那天下午，當大家準備要寫願望在天燈上，John問我：什麼是願望？我告訴他，就是他每天禱告的事或者他想要的東西。結果他很天真的說，他要寫 I want more toys and no sick. (平常John的禱告裡是不會禱告要玩具的)。但是想想好玩，我們就讓他寫了他說的 ‘I want more toys’以及‘No sick’，我和Tim各寫了一面。我寫Healthy and Happy，Tim寫了Healthy, Happy and Prosperous.

 

當天晚上，十幾個天燈一起飄上天空真的很美。回家後，睡覺前， 我如常的問他要禱告什麼？沒想到今天的Prayer request竟然多了一個，‘Pray for what we put on the lantern, no sick, more toys, healthy, happy and prosperous’…我回答他：‘what we put on the lantern is wishes’，他很快的回答我：‘If it was only wish, then we may get sick’…我告訴他：‘Don’t worry, we pray everyday for not getting sick, God will bless us and give us strength. Even we got sick, He will heal us.’ 這傢伙反應很快地說：‘Then, I will pray everyday so that God will make what we put on the lantern come true.’

 

從那天之後，我們每晚的禱告多了一項，而且他會自己 pray： ‘Dear God, I would like to pray for those things we put on lantern, no sick, more toys, healthy, happy and prosperous.’

 

信心真的很大呢!

Jesus Loves Us

Tonight, when I was reading bible story for John, the question in snuggle section was about go and tell the people who does not know Jesus about him. I asked John why we should tell the world about Jesus. He said to me because Jesus loves us and takes care of us, so we should share the good news. Then, I ask him how he will tell. He answers me:

 

I will tell them, Jesus loves all of us. If you were bad guy, Jesus still loves you. If you were good guy, Jesus will love you even more.

 

I know he will be a good gospeler!

幫娃娃刷牙

早上叫陽陽去刷牙洗臉, 不知道他從哪裡來的餿主意, 說要幫他的毛絨娃娃刷牙. 我心裡很不願, 但又怕抹煞他的創造力, 我跟他說: 娃娃沒有牙齒, 如果你找得到有牙齒的娃娃, 你就可以幫他刷牙. 我想, 反正他一定找不到有牙齒的娃娃. 

過了一會兒, 他拿著Barney, 一隻有一顆布牙齒的兔子, 跑來給我看,..."媽咪: Barney有牙齒". 無奈的我只好讓他幫Barney刷牙. 過一會兒, 我過去浴室看他在做什麼, 我看他幫Barney漱口, 弄得Barney滿臉濕瘩瘩的. 我告訴他不要弄得濕濕的, John: 但是刷牙本來就會把臉弄得濕濕的ㄚ! 我拿他沒輒, 只好回客廳看電視.

後來, 過了好一陣子, 陽陽一直沒出現. 我又跑去浴室看, 沒想到我問他在做什麼. 他竟然說: 我在幫Barney洗澡 ...... 我看到Barney變地濕濕的, 我叫陽陽把Barney放進去脫水烘乾. John: 不行吧! Barney會縮小, 我要把他晾在陽台.

接著, 我叫他去畫畫. 沒想到他竟然說: No, I still have customers who want me to brush their teeth and wash their hair......

這下子, 他總共洗了三個. 還用定型液將一個娃娃的頭髮豎起來......現在全在陽台晾著滴水...

Sleep in the right place

When we thought we were going to have another baby, John was so excited. However, it turned out it was ecotpic pregnancy. We told John that we need to fly back to do surgery since the baby is sleeping in the wrong place. He seemed understood what we meant and he asked if he slept in the right place when he was in my tummy. We told him because he slept in the right place, that is why we have a cute boy.

One week later, when we go back to see doctor for taking out stitches, Tim and I are talking about we should ask the doctor what we should pay attention if we want to have another baby next time. John sat beside me and said, "tell the baby to sleep in the right place"...

台灣新聞比較好

毒奶粉事件時, 看了電視後, 會告訴John 一些東西不能吃.

一天上學途中, Joh 不經易的告訴我說

John: 爸爸! 我覺得台灣的新聞比較好!

Dad: Why? 我好奇的詢問

John: 因為台灣的新聞會告訴你什麼不能吃啊!

John: 爸爸! 我覺得台灣的新聞比較好!

 

Dad: Why? 我好奇的詢問

 

John: 因為台灣的新聞會告訴你什麼不能吃啊!

聖誕禮物

去年學校的聖誕節特賣會, 我們有帶 John 去跟 Santa 照相. Santa 問 John 要什麼 Christmas Gift. John 告訴他 Lego. 因此, 我們去年就買了 Lego 藏起來, 然後, 12/24 晚上 John 睡了之後把禮物放在Christmas Tree 的下面. 我還記得25號早上, 原本 John 還沒發現, 我還很雞婆的暗示他去看看Christmas Tree. 他發現禮物後, 我還假裝的問他, 那是誰送的. 他不假思索的回答是 Santa. 我問他, 為什麼是 Santa, 他還一付天真的說, 因為他有跟 Santa 說他要Lego. 我接著還問他說, 我們家又沒有Chimney, Santa 怎麼跑進來? 他想了一下說, 可能是 Santa 昨天晚上按門鈴, 然後Daddy幫他開門的吧!

我想想, 也許就讓他這樣想吧! 不去拆穿, 讓他保有對 Santa 的期待, 他總有一天會知道的!

前幾天, John 突然跟我們提到, 今年他要跟 Santa 說他想要的聖誕禮物. 我跟他說, 要他自己跟 Santa 講. 他接著說, 我要跟Santa說 "我要Transformer and Bakugan"

因為我不知道 Toy r us 有沒有Bakugan. 所以我跟他說, Santa很老, 可能不知道 Bakugan. 他接著問我說, 為什麼我知道 Santa 很老? 我告訴他, 因為 Santa 有很長的白鬍鬚. 沒想到他竟然接著說 That is prentended. 剎那間, 我以為他知道沒有 Santa 這回事. 於是, 我接著他的話說, 所以, 沒有 Santa 囉! 沒想到他竟然說, 我是說白鬍鬚是prentended....

真的聽不出來他是裝的!

John 接著說: 雖然 Santa 很老, 但是他小的時候可能看過 Bakugan....

我告訴他, Bakugan 是新的卡通, Santa 小的時候應該沒有看過 Bakugan! 沒想到這小傢伙竟然說:  "Santa 一定會知道的啦!", 我問他, 為什麼?

"Because he is Santa! Of course, he knows!"

會講Chinese的印度人

最近我們家阿姨說要回老家照顧小孩. 新來的阿姨每天走的比較早, 所以Erica還沒見過她.

我嘗試著描訴阿姨的特徵....

Dad: 這個阿姨臉黑黑的,  可能較能吃苦.......

當我還在想著如何描訴阿姨的特徵時,

陽陽在旁邊突然插話說: "新阿姨應該是會講Chinese的印度人吧!"
